Students of School of Geographical Sciences have won a number of national, provincial and municipal prizes. He Wei, undergraduate of Grade 2006, won the grand prize in the national competition-- the Challenge-cup Extracurricular and Academic Contest. It is the best result that students of social sciences in Northeast Normal University have ever scored in the Challenge-cup. Sun Zhongyi, undergraduate of Grade 2008, won the third prize in the Challenge-cup. Zhang Jingyu, undergraduate of Grade 2012, won the third prize in the Esri-cup Chinese University Student GIS Software Development Competition in 2014. Jiang Tao, undergraduate of Grade 2011, won the grand prize in the first Chinese Normal University Geography Student Teaching Skill Exchanges. Li Jie, undergraduate of Grade 2011, won the first prize in the first Chinese Normal University Student Micro-video Contest—Inverting Classroom. Xiao Han, undergraduate of Grade 2013, won the grade prize in the fifth National GIS Application Contest. Li Nannan, undergraduate of Grade 2010, published 4 first-author papers, which are respectively indexed by SCI (Science Citation Index), CSSCI (Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index), CSCD (Chinese Science Citation Database) and Chinese Core Periodicals. In recent 10 years, undergraduates of School of Geographical Sciences have published over 10 academic papers.
According to tracking data from 2005 to 2016, on average, 45% graduates continue to take postgraduate program. In 2014, 72.2% graduates of Geographical Information Science furthered study for a master degree. The employment rate of each year maintains over 98%.
